Study Permit

International students require a study permit to study in Canada unless the study program is less than six months in duration. You may require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) as well to enter Canada depending on your country of citizenship. Students can work part-time (up to 20 hours a week) without a work permit while studying. A study permit allows students to work on-campus or off-campus.

To obtain a study permit, the applicant must meet the following requirements:

• Successfully accepted at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada
• Proof of financial support for your education and living in Canada for the period of study
• English proficiency test (IELTS, TOEFL, etc.)
• Must be able to obtain a police clearance certificate, if required
• Undergo a medical exam and provide medical test results
• Promise to leave Canada upon the completion of your education
